COOPERATION POLICY

We Support Sustainable Forestry

SIA “ACA Timber”’s mission is to supply its clients’ production facilities with highquality timber, while ensuring that biological diversity is preserved in forests and that forests remain accessible for recreation. Balanced forest use is a core principle of sustainable forestry.

SIA “ACA Timber”’s wood purchase contracts include detailed environmental protection criteria (for example, requirements set by legislation and best forestry practices). We continuously provide our employees and subcontractors with training in occupational safety and environmental protection. To ensure compliance with environmental requirements, regular inspections of both our own and subcontractors’ logging sites are carried out. We also participate in the research and development of environmentally safe working methods and equipment.

We Know the Origin of Our Wood

The timber supplied by SIA “ACA Timber” comes from wellmanaged forests. Timber procurement is carried out only legally.
To track the flow of timber from the cutting site to the final consumer, we use the latest technologies — including advanced information systems and digital mapping. Additional audits of cutting sites are performed to confirm that all timber delivery information is accurate and that logging activities comply with required standards. All procurement processes are thoroughly documented, and information is available for every step.

We Support Forest Certification

Forest certification is an important tool for ensuring and demonstrating sustainable forest management. We support reliable and internationally recognized forest certification systems that are adapted to local conditions.

In our timber procurement regions, FSC® and PEFC certification systems are in operation.

  • SIA “ACA Timber” FSC CoC certificate number: PBNCOC021026128,
Logo licence code: FSCC122992.
  • SIA “ACA Timber” PEFC certificate number: VKPEFCCOC0022.

Our goal is to increase the amount of certified timber in our products and expand the availability of labelled products. For consumers and informed buyers, certification labels provide assurance of our responsible forestry practices.

Forest Certification

Forest certification is a voluntary system aimed at supporting the sustainable management of commercially grown forests by ensuring a balanced approach to nature conservation, economics, and social considerations.

Certificates are issued by neutral bodies after carefully examining and evaluating forest management methods and their compliance with established principles and criteria.

There are several globally recognized international and national forest certification systems, adapted to meet local requirements in different countries. The most widely known are PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

Products We Are Proud Of

Wood is a renewable resource. Forestry makes efficient use of:

  • the most valuable part of the tree — the stem wood (for construction materials);
  • thinner wood and timber obtained from postharvest tending operations (for paper production);
  • branches, tops, bark, and stumps (for energy production).

Wood products are safe for both people and nature. After use, they can be recycled or burned to generate energy.

Certified Forestry Product Labelling

Products made from wood sourced in certified forests may carry certified product labels if the proportion of certified timber exceeds a specified percentage. This percentage varies depending on the certification system. A certified chain of custody ensures that the manufacturer knows the exact origin of the timber supplied.

Chain of Custody System

The purpose of the chain of custody system is to compile information about the origin of timber raw materials, starting from the cutting site. Each stage must be documented to verify the accuracy of this information. For a product to carry a certified label, both the timber procurement organization and the factory must operate a certified chain of custody system.

Sustainable forestry is highly important to our clients, forest owners, and our business operations.

Key Points Important to SIA “ACA Timber” Clients

  • the timber we supply is obtained using environmentally responsible methods;
  • forest owners wish to pass their forests on to the next generation in good condition;
  • the ability to secure high-quality raw materials in the future is essential for the successful development of the forestry sector.
